A full website re-design is currently underway… In the meantime, there’s a bit of temporary design changes going on. Don’t be alarmed, Young & Awesome 4 is almost here and it’s gonna have all the bells and whistles. Please don’t mind the design mess at the moment.
I would say YA4 is going to be better than engadget and gizmodo put together. Stay tuned.
Everybody check this guy out now. Dan Mangan is a Canadian indie folk singer from British Columbia. He’s been getting A LOT of play on local Vancouver radio station, The Peak 103.5. So much play, that I noticed and I’m a huge fan now. No doubt he’s going to be an indie gem that blows up in the indie world (if he hasn’t already).
Pretty much everything he releases is amazing, particularly his leads single: Robots. The video has a DIY feel, and the song is catchy as hell. The best part is the end.
So Google quietly unveiled some concept stuff on Chrome OS yesterday… and needless to say… it looks sickkkk!!! Recently I switched almost everything I do onto Google platforms…. GMAIL, Google Reader, Analytics, Google Docs… Google knows where its at and seems to be releasing useful product.
Now I’m amped on Google OS.. Or Chrome OS as they call it. If you’re into this kind of stuff, I suggest watching both of these videos. Google seems to be the new Apple. In a world where the magic mouse can’t even hold it’s battery life for 2 weeks, here’s hoping Google one day starts doing some sort of hardware to crush the big guys.
As we all know, everyone who reads Young & Awesome is a fan of christmas. And if they aren’t, well… they probably are not “young and awesome.”
We present to you the Holiday Version of Young & Awesome. We’re gearing up a little early this year, because better early than late. Hope you enjoy the theme.
Vampie Weekend is one of the most kick-ass bands on the scene today. Every single song they put out is fantastic. Three days ago, the band’s first single from their new album, “Contra” was released. Pretty badass. New fans should also track down “Horchata” from their upcoming album as well.
Vampire Weekend’s new album comes out on January 12 in North America and a day before in the UK.
Carnage will be coming to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 very soon. I have never played this game, but once this hits I may have to pick it up. It was announced that the character will be available as DLC. No word whether or not it will be free or for a price, but most likely the latter. There is also word that Dr. Octopus will be another character addition to the game.
This is probably my favourite comic book villain, so stoked they decided to make him playable. Also, if the next Spider-Man films don’t have him as the main bad guy, Hollywood are a bigger bunch of #$-tards than I thought.
I don’t watch Heroes. And I also think Hayden Panettiere is pretty overrated in terms of hotness. But… The last few seconds of this scene were pretty neat… Even if I felt embarrassed for the actors the entire time.
This scene confirms why I don’t watch heroes anymore: Horrible script, and horrible acting… But if they throw more shit like this in, I might start watching it again.
You may know Ryan Gosling from the Notebook or various other movies… But he’s also a sick musician. A few months back his band, Dead Man’s Bones, posted a live version of “In The Room Where You Sleep” along with a music video. It was amazing and had people wanting more.
Their debut album came out on Tuesday, and so far after a few listens… This is the perfect autumn album. Every song is catchy and eery. I recommend going over to the band’s myspace and streaming a few of their tracks, then going out and picking up the CD. Dead Man’s Bones Myspace
This looks pretty sick… With the new batch of Blackberries set to come out within the next little while, it seems like a smart move to let a WHITE Blackberry Bold into the wild. I will be making the switch from iPhone to Blackberry in the next little while, and while I’ll be waiting for the next generation of phones… This makes me want a Bold now!
If you were a fan of Batman: Arkham Asylum, be on the lookout for the second round of FREE downloadable content tomorrow! Includes two new maps/challenges and comes out for the PS3, XBOX360 and PC. Second.. If you haven’t played this yet, what the hell are you doing??
After much delay the third iteration of Young & Awesome is live. This time around we’ve removed the giant twitter bar to make room for what matters: the content. Now you’ll be getting triple the amount of content posts per page, but it still is slick and tidy. It’s fall now, so expect more posts as things seem to slow down in our active lives and we can concentrate on sweet posts. Looking forward to bringing Cruise News, Bale Mail and the Y&A mixtape back… also keep a lookout for new features such as Babe of the Week and hopefully some other sweet stuff.
Please retweet at your hearts desire.. finally got around to putting that button up to the left there. Finally, it should be easier to navigate through posts now, and clearer to read.
Hopefully this will happen more often. Gonna shoot for once a week but depending on how busy we are it could be more than that, or less… I’m gonna start with an easy one this week, but prepare yourself for a festival of beautiful women in the future.
Katy Perry. There are times when she pisses me off, there are times when she annoys me. She makes up for that with… these pictures. Fun fact: Her real name is Katy Hudson.
I’m pretty amped for Uncharted 2… the first game in the series is one of the best for PS3, and gathering what I’ve been reading… the new game is better. Below is an excerpt from the Playstation Blog: http://blog.us.playstation.com/
“… Since then, we’ve spent all our time putting the finishing touches on the game and we were able to recently announce that UNCHARTED 2 had gone gold. Since then, we’ve been eagerly waiting to see what game critics have thought about our game and we’re just now starting to see the reviews come in. Earlier this week, we were absolutely thrilled to see our first review garnering a 5 out of 5 and Editors’ Choice Award in the November 2009 issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine. Then, today, we received two more reviews – IGN had the exclusive review and gave UNCHARTED 2 a 9.5 out of 10 and GamesRadar UK chimed in with another perfect 10 out of 10. Needless to say, we can’t wait to read the rest of the reviews over the next few weeks! Don’t forget that just because we release on October 13, 2009, doesn’t mean you can’t get some hands on time with UNCHARTED 2 before we launch – our Multiplayer Demo will be available to everyone via PlayStation Network on September 29 or, if you pre-order a copy at GameStop now, you can jump in today! …”
Not sure if everyone has been following the news on the Tron sequel… But if you haven’t, I’ve got some news for you. Below is the HD trailer (which I suggest watching fullscreen) and the movie is set to be released in Disney 3D on December 17, 2010. Forgot to mention… in IMAX. Not sure how this movie is going to be, but if it’s anything close to the marketing they’ve already been pushing then I’m pumped. Super stylized and future-y.
Here’s a summary for those of you in the dark: Tron Legacy is set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra (Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous. The 3D adventure is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Sean Baily, Jeffrey Silver, Steven Lisberger and written by Lisberger, Richard Jeffries, Brian Klugman & Lee Stemthal, Eddy Kitsis & Adam Horowitz, and Bill Wheeler. SOOOO stoked for this movie. Apparently this was supposed to come out in 2007 but Warner Brothers has been a bunch of dicks and not released it. Luckily, it’s finally coming to bluray on October 6, and I am incredibly excited. It’s had raving reviews from those who have already seen it.
If you’ve been stuck under a rock, you don’t know the Avatar trailer is out. This movie is going to be unreal. It’s got the guy from Terminator… and that guy was awesome. At first I thought these characters looked fake and didn’t understand all the fuss… but if you watch the trailer again and look at the detail you start wondering if it’s not the CG, but just the fact that you’ve never seen a creature like this before. Still pretty awesome looking.
So… Only 14 days until (500) Days Of Summer comes to the big screen… I’m holding out on watching the pre-screening, I can’t wait to check this movie out. Zooey Deschanel. Anyways, click here to head on over to Apple Trailers and watch a brand new hilarious clip from the movie. The anticipation is killing me.
